About this project
DRITTO DRITTO AL CUORE
“Sometimes words are not enough. And then we need colour.”
This project was inspired by the words of Alessandro Baricco and grew from reflecting on feelings that pierce through us and sometimes leave us breathless.
Sometimes they leave a tangible emptiness within.
I am speaking of emotions that cannot be expressed in words, but that go straight to the heart.
Sometimes words are not enough to describe what I feel, so I use colour: colour as the expression of unspoken words.
A canvas more than eight metres long, made with acrylic paints, oil pastels and silk paints, then divided into four equal parts and mounted on wooden supports.
I live in colours,
in shades that chase one another along the edge of the day,
where the blue of the sky mingles with the breath of evening.Red burns on my skin
like a sunset steeped in passion,
while yellow fills me with laughter
like a ray of sun slipping across my eyes.Colours speak to me,
a secret murmur only I can hear.
Green tells me to grow,
invites me to become root and leaf,
while violet carries me into a world of dreams,
among distant stars and wandering thoughts.Every colour is an emotion,
a heartbeat changing its rhythm.
In blue I find peace,
in white, silence,
but orange is where I lose myself:
between one reflection and another,
there I truly live.
The many faces of red: red as love, friendship, anger, passion, summer, volcanic lava, a hibiscus flower, sunset, enrosadira, blood, pain and misunderstanding…
The many shades of yellow: yellow as the sun, joy, dawn, the beginning of a new project, strength, spring, boredom, turmeric, honey, anxiety and the fear that something bad might happen…
Blue and more than blue: blue as the sky and sea, the expectation of what is yet to come, winter, the calm of an unexpected evening with friends, the scent of iris beneath the rain, melancholy for unique and unrepeatable moments, and the emptiness left by those who go away…
Green, always green: the sunlit spring lawn, every many-shaped leaf, freshly cut grass, lily of the valley and sweet box, late-summer evenings scented with the coming autumn, and the hope that everything will be all right…
Orange has always been my favourite colour; I love it endlessly. Orange is a warm day, a special moonlit evening, a fragrant walk in the woods, the smell of rain, joyful moments with those I love. All the beautiful things in my life are orange; future projects are orange, and autumn colours are orange…
